Can 5G interfere with the weather prediction systems?
Ana Garcia Armada, project coordinator of the TeamUp5G project wrote an article in the newspaper The Conversation (ISSN 2201-5639) which has been published on November 5th 2020. The article analyses a study made by Rutgers University about how 5G may pose a problem for the systems of weather prediction. This problem can be caused due to the proximity of the 28 GHz mmWave 5G bands and the 23.8 GHz which is the band used for weather services. More information can be found in here.
Why is it so difficult to offer free WiFi of a good quality in cities?
Ana Garcia Armada, project coordinator of the TeamUp5G project wrote an article in the newspaper The Conversation (ISSN 2201-5639) which has been published on September 27th 2020. The article analyses the limitations in providing WiFi connectivity in cities. The main problems come from two issues: first one is the distance and second one is the number of simultaneous connections supported by the technology. In this context, mobile communication technologies such as 4G and 5G are much more convenient. More information can be found in here.
