Summary

The TeamUp5G Workshop on Ethics and Inclusiveness for Telecommunications Engineers was held between 2nd and 4th March 2021. The topic of this workshop was mainly related to the ethical and inclusiveness issues that telecommunications engineers may face during their career. Some talks were related, but not limited to the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and Ethics Issues, the “Amatista” project, the education and employment of women in science and technology. Some initiatives such as the “No more Matildas”, the “STEM4GirlsUC3M”, the “Son pioneras” and the “Women in AI” were also revised. The experience of a female researcher in telecommunications was also presented to the audience. Last, the documentary “Picture a scientist” was visualized by the audience. Several groups discussions on the different topics of the workshop. Below, you can find more information of this event.

No more Matildas

An initiative of AMIT (Association of Women Researchers and Technologists)

 

Education and employment of women in science, technology and the digital economy, including AI and its influence on gender equality

This study, commissioned by the European Parliament’s Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs at the request of the FEMM Committee, provides evidence that there is still gender bias and inequality in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields and the digital sector. This document, prepared at the request of the FEMM Committee (Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs, Directorate-General for Internal Policies), is intended to provide an up-to-date literature review on the current status of women’s education and employment in STEM fields and the digital sector.
